→ Latte Components
05 - 2 shots (2 fl oz) freshly brewed espresso
06 - 10 fl oz whole milk or oat milk
07 - 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
# Preparation steps:
01 - In a small skillet over medium-low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the sliced onion, granulated sugar, and salt. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until the onions are deeply caramelized and golden, approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Avoid high heat for optimal flavor.
02 - Transfer the caramelized onions and any pan juices to a blender. Add 2 tablespoons of milk and blend until completely smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve to achieve a silky consistency.
03 - Brew 2 shots (2 fl oz) of espresso and divide evenly between two cups. Add 1 tablespoon of the strained onion purée to each cup and mix thoroughly to incorporate.
04 - Heat the remaining milk until steaming. Froth using a milk frother or whisk until creamy and foamy.
05 - Pour the frothed milk over the espresso-onion blend in each cup. Sweeten with honey or maple syrup if desired. Stir gently and serve immediately.
