# Preparation steps:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a medium baking dish with butter; the dish should hold approximately 2 quarts.
02 - Boil the elbow macaroni in salted water until al dente according to package instructions. Drain thoroughly and set aside.
03 - In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Add the flour and whisk for 1 minute to form a smooth paste.
04 - Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring consistently until the mixture thickens slightly, about 3 to 4 minutes.
